A
short and simple introduction to a part of Provence - land of
light, sun, lavender fields, full-bodied wines and delicious
herb-based cuisine. In this tour you will learn all about Provençal
cuisine, the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and will have
time to explore the ancient city of Avignon with its famous Palais
des Papes and bridge.
Day 1 : COOKING COURSE
Pick up at Avignon TGV Station and transfer to the guest house
in Tavel, an authentic provençal "mas", offering a splendid view of the
surrounding countryside with the sound of the cicadas in your ears. Settle
into your magnificent room with that provençal flavour. Enjoy a cooking
course followed by dinner (drinks included) : discover the scents and spirit
of the Provencal home cuisine, made with fruit and vegetables ripened in
abundant sunlight. Overnight.

Day 2 : CHATEAUNEUF WINES - AVIGNON & the PALAIS
des PAPES
Half Day Tour to discover the Wines of the Rhône Valley (pick up in Tavel).
Sightseeing in the vineyards and stops at 2 different wineries producing red,
rosé and white wines (including Châteauneuf du Pape). During the
tour, explanations about « terroir », grape varieties,
vinification and aging cellars. And a taste of French History, with great views
from the cellars of castles and mansions dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Afternoon at leisure to visit the Popes’ Palace, biggest gothic palace
in Europe and the Pont d’Avignon, famous for the French song (English
hearphone provided in both monuments). Wine-tasting in the Palais des Papes.
Back to Tavel for overnight.
Day 3 : WINE ESTATE IN TAVEL
Stroll around the streets of Tavel, a picturesque village and acknowledged "capital
of Rosé Wine" before participating in a wine-tasting in an estate
which produces some of the greatest vintages of the Rhone Valley : Châteauneuf
du Pape, Lirac, Tavel.
Drop
off at Avignon TGV station for onward travel.
